Summer Sessions Part 2
I have spent much of the last three weeks in Sligo, my home town, with my children and Granny & Gra-Gra.
While there I was delighted to photograph some family sessions, some people decide they do not want their images shared online and I will always respect that decision and their gallery on my website remains hidden from public view.
First up, meet the Mclaughlin family. I met Louise, Phillip and their five children on what was to be one of the hottest days of the recent good weather we had, it also turned out to be one of the last really good days we had. We met in Slish Woods in County Sligo. The family had picked Slish Wood as it is a spot that they regularly go to.
I always ask families to pick a location that means something to them, that they have an attachment to. I find that if families are in a familiar environment they tend to be more relaxed and we all enjoy the session much more, and the end result tends to be capturing some very special memories.
I really enjoyed photographing this fantastic family, they all have a very special relationship and are great fun and up for anything...we even had Dad jumping in the air for a few fun shots.
The next family I was photographing was Fidelma, Steve & family. Fidelma and I spoke a few times before the session regarding locations, what to wear, bringing snacks for the kids etc. The family chose one of the most beautiful locations in Sligo I have seen and I am reluctant to give the exact location as they love this beach for it's privacy and quietness.
This session was only a few days after the above session, but already the weather had changed dramatically, we took a chance and went ahead. I am so glad that we did! From the moment Steve pulled up into the parking area and I saw his surfboard on the car I knew we were going to have loads of fun and get some great shots.
We spent a couple of hours on the beach, some of it with us doing some 'posed' shots and some of it I just followed the various family members around, splashing in the rock pools, surfing, water fights we had them all. Extended family members & friends joined us towards the end of our time together and there was a little birthday celebration for Callum who had just turned 3.
I would like to say a big big thank you to all the families involved in this summers sessions, I hope you enjoyed your family sessions as much as I did photographing them.
If you are interested in a similar shoot you can contact me via email firstname.lastname@example.org or on 083-4364326.
While I am based in Portlaoise I will be in Sligo once every couple of months. I am also happy to travel throughout Ireland and beyond.
