Nicole & Finn

I got a phone call from Nicole asking me would I take some photos of her son Finn, she had the baby photos done but Finn is now 3 1/2years old and she wanted some updated photos for her walls. Nicole liked my informal ‘capturing the moment’ style of photography and wanted me to capture photos of Finn in a natural setting.

When I met with Nicole to have a chat about our shoot she explained to me what she wanted to use the photos for, she has a fantastic photo wall running up her staircase and she wanted some images for there and a larger image for her living room.

We arranged to meet on a Sunday morning in a local park and I reminded Nicole to dress them both warmly, and I gently let it slip that I might just get a photo of her while we were there. Naturally the reply I got was ‘I don’t want any photos of me taken’. However I know Nicole is the one who takes all the photos of Finn so I was going to make sure that we also got some Mother-Son photos.

I called over to Nicole & Finn yesterday with their package of prints, slideshow, Facebook Cover Photo & a key ring. By the time I arrived home I had received a lovely email from Nicole, so I am going to let Nicole tell her story.

“Ciara spent a cold Sunday morning with my son and I at the park. We fed ducks, we swung, we slid, we marched, and we just played. It was so relaxed and easy.

When I got the first images later that day I was like a child in a sweet shop waiting for all the rest of the images. I LOVED them! I had gone with the intention of getting candid photos of my son. What I didn't expect was the emotional response I had.

I never realised how much it meant to have those little authentic moments captured. Like most parents I'm usually taking the photos, not in them. Ciara has a real eye for telling the life story. She deftly captured those moments that make my relationship with my son so special to me.

Ciara will be the first person I call to capture those ordinary and extraordinary moments.”
